Automated Notices & Violations
The rules engine automatically generates compliance notices based on your configured schedules and thresholds.
Notice Types
- Upcoming Test Reminder — Sent 30/60/90 days before annual test is due (configurable).
- Overdue Notice — Generated when the annual test deadline passes without a recorded result.
- Failed Test Notice — Sent when a test fails, requiring repair and retest.
- Violation Letter — Escalation notice for persistent non-compliance.
- Enforcement Action — Final notice before service shutoff or penalties.
Customizing Notice Templates
Navigate to Settings → Backflow → Notice Templates to customize the content and timing of each notice type. Templates support merge fields for facility name, assembly serial number, test date, and more.
Sending Notices
Notices can be sent via:
- Email — Delivered to the facility contact on file.
- Mail-ready PDF — Generated for physical mailing.
- Portal notification — Visible in the facility's or tester's portal dashboard.
Tracking Notice History
All notices are logged in the assembly's and facility's activity history. You can see when each notice was generated, sent, and whether it has been resolved.
